Following EFF’s failure to secure maximum victory in some municipalities, the party has decided to form a coalition with any other ‘willing’ rival party.
Answering questions during a press briefing at the IEC Results Operations Center in Pretoria, Julius Malema tabled two striking conditions for any coalition partnership between the EFF and a prospective suitor.

Top on the red beret’s list is that prospective ‘suitors’ must “give back land to the people” and then “change the life of the African child” because “An African child must benefit from anything else the EFF is going to constitute.”
Presently, the party says no rival party has approached it for coalition talks; however, Malema believes the EFF won’t turn down talks should the ANC or DA approach it – this is coming against speculations by EFF leaders that the party will never form coalition with the ANC or DA.
In addition, the defiant opposition leader disclosed at the IEC results operations center, that the just concluded election has placed three options on its table. These options include: To form a coalition with the ANC; to “abstain” and remain in opposition; or have a re-run of the election in hung councils.
The EFF is neatly placed to play the kingmaker role in three metro – after it garnered negligible votes in the fiercely contested Nelson Mandela Bay; Johannesburg and Tshwane.
Remarkably, Malema’s U-turn on having coalition talks with the ANC is coming barely 24 hours after he had boasted that the EFF would rather have the DA crowned in the metros in place of the ANC.
BuzzSouthAfrica vividly recalls that in one of EFF’s campaign, Fighter Ndlozi said: “We don’t have a manifesto for coalitions, we are campaigning to win.

(But, if they don’t get an outright majority), we will form coalition government with other opposition parties…But never with the ANC. We will never do anything to keep the ANC in power.”
However, while plans are underway to get hooked to a ‘qualified’ suitor, the party’s official twitter account has demanded suggestions to the question – “If EFF goes on a coalition, which party should we vote with?” from its numerous fans.
