More companies withdraw from South Africa – Image – Die Vryburger
After several retail groups, including Stuttafords, had earlier announced a withdrawal from South Africa, two other retail groups are set to follow.
The Mango Clothes Stores and Nine West Shoe Shops, which are part of The House of Busby, are apparently already closed, and the poor economic climate is stated as the main reason, although economists believe that policy awareness through nationalization talks is probably a contributing factor.
It is not certain how many people lost their jobs with this withdrawal. However, some of their products will still be available at Edgars.
Another international group, River Island, is also considering closing their stores.
