Illegal squatters nearby Soweto clashed with the police when their shacks were broken down and removed.

On Friday last week the squatters erected their shacks and on Sunday, the police arrived to removal the illegals who invaded the land.

The squatters anger increased when they saw police loading their corrugated iron and timber shacks on a truck. The squatters tried to reclaim their material, but the police refused to give it back to them.

A fight broke out between the squatters and the police, and roads were blocked to prevent the police from escaping. Eventually, the police took control and called for reinforcements.

The EFF naturally was the first to say that the occupation was justified because the ground has for the last five years being vacant, but police said the land belongs to a private person.

Only one arrest was made during the public uproar, but the illegal land invaders walked away without any consequences.
