Further horrific corruption at Prasa revealed – Image – Die Vryburger
After the Johannesburg Supreme Court had dismissed a contract for the purchase of 70 locomotives by a BEE company for Prasa, further horrific corruption has been revealed.
The transport minister, Joe Maswanganyi, in parliament had to acknowledge that R100m contracts were awarded to senior officials of Prasa, and to companies affiliated with them.
It even appears that the concerned officials themselves have reviewed and awarded the tenders while in one case the officials concerned, the executive manager, was responsible for the work done.
Further irregular contracts have been granted in previous financial years and have now been exposed.
It is not yet certain whether action against the corrupt officials concerned will be taken.
